Physcho Anaylsis

In this scene the camera shots that are being used are shots such as close ups, mid shots and extreme close up. These are used mostly in thrillers to show the viewer how the character is feeling. Also they use mid shots to show the viewer what is going on in the scene. In this scene the type of shot is a bird’s eye view shot. They use this shot because it sets the scene and also shows the viewer what is going on. With this angle it makes the women look weak and defenceless. The editing in this shot is fast pace because when the killer gets involved it increases in pace because it gets the viewer’s heart pounding. Also for this screen shot it makes the viewer think that everything is coming down her because from the angle we see the knife coming down on her and the water as well. This shows that everything is going against her. The mise en scene in this picture is good because it signifies that fact she is defenceless by the way she has no clothes on, this could show she is open to attack with the killer fully clothed. The sound in thius scene is very dull which could connote to the viewer that something is going to happen which makes the viewer feel nervous and upset for the women.

In this screen shot the shot type is a close up this is to show the women’s feelings and face expressions. And then the camera pans round and we faintly see the killer this is the first time we get an idea of what is happening and when we know what is happening the shots speed up this creates tension because we don’t know what will happen next. Also the sound volume increases which adds to the affect. This screenshot is affective because the attention is now on the object behind the shower curtain but we don’t know what it is yet this creates suspense. The way she is only just in the picture is good because it makes her feel defencless and worthless because the killer in the background takes up the screen which makes him look powerful compared to the women. The sound in this scene suddenly up the tempo and get louder this also gives the viewer even more of an idea of whats going on and it also makes the women vunrealibe.

In this screen shot we see that the blood is draining down the plug hole. This can connote many things such as her life is draining away. Also the sound when this picture is used is very slow which makes us know this is the end for the women. We get this idea because before she gets stabbed the music is very past paced and the dramatic change signifies something big has happened which can affect us. The contrast of the white bath tub on the red blood makes the blood stand out and make it worse. In this screenshot the women has just been killed so there is no music after this, this is because it makes the viewer know its a sad time for the women and shes died. so the music works in contrast with whats going on an example would be when the women is dead the stop stopps to signify that shes dead and everything connected to her will also be dead.
